JREF on ABC's Primetime Nightline on Wednesday
Wednesday night at 10:00pm (9:00pm Central), ABC's Primetime Nightline will air a one-hour special on psychic abilities. James Randi, along with JREF President D.J. Grothe, JREF's Million Dollar Challenge Director Banachek, and advisor Jamy Ian Swiss, worked with Nightline producers on two of the segments and participated in three days of taping, including the JREF's first-ever open Million Dollar Challenge event where hundreds of New York City psychics were invited to take our tests. You can watch ABC's 30-second teaser for the show and see behind-the-scenes photos at Randi.org. Make sure to watch Wednesday night!

JREF Helps Young Skeptics Shine at Camp Inquiry
The James Randi Educational Foundation was a proud co-sponsor of
this year’s Camp Inquiry, help August 1-6 in Holland, New York. Nearly fifty
campers, aged 7 to 17, enjoyed roasted marshmallows, nature hikes, singalongs, and new
friends — all while using reason and evidence to explore life’s questions.
JREF Director of Education Michael Blanford created original programming for the
campers, and the highlight for many was Randi’s visit on the final day of
Camp.

Field Department Gearing Up For An Amaz!ng Autumn
Our new Field Coordinator Brian Thompson has set great plans for
the rest of the year, and we’ll be resourcing grassroots groups more than ever
with speakers, sponsorship, training, and networking and promotional support. The JREF
is developing a comprehensive set of free resources for anyone looking to create, join,
or maintain a grassroots skeptical organization, including pamphlets, manuals, and
interactive workshops on how to execute an effective skeptical activism campaign. These
resources will be made available on our new Web site when we launch it this fall.
We’re also working on several online features that will make it easier for
skeptics to find each other and for local groups to recruit new members.
In September, we’re participating in a speaking tour across nine
cities in Canada in coordination with Centre for Inquiry Canada, where Randi will
inform and energize local skeptics with his unique presentations. This fall, the JREF
will be collaborating with the National Capital Area Skeptics and the University of
Maryland Society of Inquiry to conduct an educational workshop on Dowsing and the
Ideomotor Effect in Washington, D.C. This is just one of several educational
workshops the JREF is bringing to grassroots groups.
If you want to start a local group or get your organization connected
to the JREF’s grassroots resources, email Brian Thompson at brian@randi.org.

James Randi: A Thank You For Your Birthday Wishes
The Earth has just started -- for me -- its 84th tour of
the Sun. I'm appropriately flattered and edified at the number of good wishes that came
my way via the various online services we now enjoy, and I thank you all for your kind
comments...
